Online Bill Payments-Starting in March

Parents have requested that we offer online bill payments for lunches, snacks and afterschool care. Starting with the March billing statement, you will be able to use a bank transfer (e-check), debit or credit card through a link on your emailed statement to pay your bill. There will be a $3 transaction fee to cover the cost for the service. You still have many other ways to pay for lunches, snacks and afterschool care. Currently people can set up automatic check payments through their online banking (e-check with no fee), bring or mail checks to the office or pay in cash. We hope that having the online bill pay will help you make payments and donations. Speaking of donations, there are several ways to do that too! You can add extra money to your payments, make a pledge annually that will be added to your ECE bill or donate online through the ECE or USC websites. This year we are raising money to finish work on the playground. We want to purchase a new swing and some climbing rocks.

School Surveys

Thanks for completing the school surveys. The board reviewed comments. 91% of 3-5 grade students and 93% of adult respondents agree or strongly agree that USC fosters a positive school climate. Thank you to parents, teachers, staff and students!

Assembly bill 1505 would grant local district school boards undefined discretion in granting or denying charters and charter renewals, and revoke charter schools ability appeal those decisions. It could reduce the period of charter renewal from 5 years to a single year. It would also remove County Offices of Education or the State Board of Education as Authorizers.

Assembly bill 1508 would permit chartering authorities to consider, in determining whether to approve a new charter school petition, the financial, academic, and facilities impacts the new charter school would have on neighborhood public schools.

Annual Family Potluck & Student Sing, Sunday March 17th, 12-3

Union Street Charter families fill the Community Center at this wonderful school community event! The students present a music performance and everyone enjoys a festive potluck. There is a sign up on the porch or you can email the office to help (see job list below). We ask families who are new to the school to come and enjoy the event for the first time without needing to do anything other than bring your family, place settings, and potluck dishes.
